Hip hop workshops to have youngsters on their toes

An eight-week, low-cost series of workshops is being staged in Okaihau for budding hip-hop dancers.

The workshops are being run by Alannah Curtis, of Demonstr8 Da Flow Dance Studioz, and part-funded by Creative Communities.

The classes are open to boys and girls, with classes for kids (5-10 years) and teens (11-18) costing $2 a session.

Participants will learn three to four dance routines, culminating in a performance at the Okaihau College hall and follow-up performances at Christmas parades around the Mid North.

The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the kids' sessions from 3.30-4.30pm and the teens from 4.30-6.00pm. Fifteen places are available for kids and 20 for teens.

Classes start on October 16 with the deadline for applications October 12.
