A man wearing baggy grey trackpants and a black shirt over a red hooded sweatshirt is wanted by police for the robbery of a popular Northland hotel.
Police investigating the Tuesday night raid at the Kamo Hotel have released a security camera picture of the man who entered the public bar armed with a weapon and wearing a balaclava, and stole cash just before 5pm. They are hoping a member of the public will have information that will lead to his arrest.
Officers have been scouring surveillance footage gathered from around Kamo and are now able to reveal the direction the robber ran off towards.
Detective Sergeant John Miller said that after fleeing from the public bar the man ran through the carpark, then through an alleyway near Omak Butchery and crossed Kamo Rd. He was last seen on Grant St.
Mr Miller said witnesses had been spoken to and had seen the man hanging around outside a nearby dive shop and the hotel a little earlier.
"Anyone who saw that person around that time or anyone who has information should phone police," Mr Miller said.
The robber was described as being of solid build.
Some patrons at the hotel were not aware of the robbery happening as they sipped their beers.
No one was injured although the barman was left shaken by the experience.
If you can help police solve the crime call (09) 430 4500 and ask for Mr Miller or ring 0800 Crimestoppers.
