Consuming spirits before driving was not a good idea for a Whangarei man - he's serving 19 months' jail for his fourth drink driving charge.
Russell Wayne HARDIMAN, 45, appeared in Whangarei District Court for sentence on a charge of driving with excess breath alcohol for a third or subsequent time.
The police summary of facts said Hardiman was stopped on Kamo Rd about 1.40am on May 23, last year.
He exhibited signs of recent alcohol consumption and admitted that he had been drinking spirits before driving. A test revealed a level of 588 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
He was jailed for 19 months and disqualified from driving for three years for his fourth drink driving offence.
