Man dies in tractor accident

A 70-year-old man has died after he was caught in a tractor and suffered fatal injuries on the grounds of Opotiki College.

Emergency services were called to the school grounds on Buchanan St about 3pm.

He had been assisting with repairs on the tractor belonging to the college when he was caught in the machinery, said police.

The matter will be referred to the coroner.

The man's name is expected to be released tomorrow once all of his next of kin have been advised.
