The grass ceiling: NZ women sidelined from governing roles

This is going to get ugly..... My 5c worth. In sports where women's teams represent the pinnacle (Netball) it s likely to have more female representation as the numbers of interested and qualified potential board members will be far greater.

In sports that appeal to men the opposite is most likely. Women are an important and growing segment in sports that have traditionally been focused on marketing to men (E.g Rugby, League) so in the course of time it would br natural to see more women appearing in governance roles.

The other part of sports is the strong 'old boys' networks that can get in the way of both women and men who are not from the sports elite ranks.

Some areas should remain sole male domains, especially male sport, the playing, the coaching and the management of it.
