Serious crash causes delays on Auckland motorway

One person is dead following a serious crash in Mairangi Bay.

Police said the car hit the median barrier while travelling south on the motorway, coming to rest on the Constellation Drive on-ramp in Mairangi Bay.

It is believed that the person died as a result of a medical issue.

Police said one lane on the southbound on-ramp to the motorway is closed and may be for sometime.

The motorway heading south is congested and police are warning motorists to avoid the area.
