Body discovered in Birkenhead

A body has been discovered in the Auckland suburb of Birkenhead.

The grisly find was made by a jogger making a lap of the Eskdale Reserve last night.

Police say although they are yet to formally identify the body - they believe it to be that of a local man who went missing from his home last month.

No further people are being sought in relation to the death, and the matter is to be passed onto the coroner.
