Former Vodafone New Zealand boss Tim Miles has been named as the chief executive of Telecom's information technology arm, Gen-i.

Miles was Vodafone NZ chief executive for four years and then briefly lead Vodafone UK. He was also the boss of PGG Wrightson until 2010.

He succeeds former Gen-i chief executive Chris Quin, who took over as head of Telecom retail in October.

Miles starts at Gen-i on February 4 next year.
