Classic cookies make the perfect gifts for families and friends, simply mix up a few batches of sugar snap cookies, buttery shortbread, and sweetly spiced gingerbread men, then pop into paper bags and tie with ribbon. That's Christmas sorted.

Tips and tricks

• It the dough feels too soft, simply chill in the fridge for a few minutes before rolling.

• To make chocolate snap cookies, add 2 Tbsp sifted Dutch cocoa with the flour.
