A forestry worker has been airlifted from a remote spot in Marlborough after being hit by a log.

The 37-year old man from Rai Valley was injured during the incident on the north bank of the Top Valley Stream in Marlborough about 2.30pm yesterday.

Emergency services were called and Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter responded.

The man was treated by the helicopter's onboard St John intensive care paramedic before being flown to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim.
