Play of the day: Barton scores from corner

Joey Barton may not have had a lot to smile about from a football point of view over the last year, but he is certainly going to be in celebratory mood today.

He scored direct from a corner for Marseille against Borussia Moenchengladbach in their Europe League tie this morning (NZT).

The goal was a 54th minute equaliser for the home side to make the game 1-1.

Marseille went onto take a 2-1 lead but were pegged back in injury time to draw 2-2.

Nevertheless look out for Joey Barton on Twitter later to tell everybody about his achievement
