'Hoo rah' Facebook fugitive turns himself in

A Taupo man, who captured the public's attention by taunting Police via social media, has turned himself in.

Tauhara Paetiki Neighbourhood Policing team posted a wanted ad on their Facebook page asking for sightings of a 34-year-old man who had failed to appear in court.

The wanted man then decided to leave police a simple message - "Hoo rah''.

The comment received more than 50 likes.

But this morning the Tauhara Policing team announced the man turned himself into the courts.
