Notorious ladies' man Hugh Hefner has a firm resolution for 2012 - to remain unwed.

The 85-year-old Playboy founder proposed to then-girlfriend Crystal Harris, 24, last December, only for the playmate to call off the nuptials just days before they were set to shuffle down the aisle in June.

"The wedding is off," Hefner tweeted at the time.

"Crystal has had a change of heart."

"After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef," Harris wrote on her website. "I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time."

But she later gave privacy the one-finger salute by dissing Hefner's bedroom abilities.

His ex-fiance dished the dirt on their sex life during a candid radio interview in July.

Asked by "shock jock" Howard Stern about their doomed relationship, Harris aimed below directly the belt and chided his performance in the sack.

"Hef doesn't really take off his clothes. I have never seen him naked," said Harris.

She also claimed that sex with Hefner lasted "about two seconds".

Jilted Hefner recently revealed that he's stuck in a custody battle with Harris over the dog they once shared.

According to People, Harris is trying to take back the Cavalier King Charles spaniel puppy she had previously handed over to Hefner.

After their wedding was called off, Hefner reportedly told Harris she could keep the $90,000 3 carat diamond engagement ring - which she later sold for $47,500 at a Christie's auction - plus the car he had bought her as a wedding gift, in return for the puppy.

"I told Crystal she could keep the engagement ring & Bentley (a wedding gift) if I could have our puppy," Hefner wrote on Twitter this week. "But now she wants all three."

He added: "We both love the puppy. I told her if she wants to keep the ring and the Bentley, then maybe I can keep the puppy. I hope we will work it out.

"The puppy's valuable, but not $100,000 worth," Hefner concluded.

Not long after he tweeted the news, former girlfriend, Kendra Wilkinson, chimed in on the canine saga.

"I'm sorry u have to go through this. That dog loves u so much," Wilkinson wrote on twitter. "She abandoned him n now she want him back. She's mean mean mean."

While Hefner's former gal pal Holly Madison confronted Harris directly via Twitter, writing, "Why did you voluntarily give the dog to Hef (who loves him too) after u left, only to ask for him back a few months later?"

She later added: "Dogs shouldn't be yanked from homes on a whim...People should do what's best for the dog!"

Third time's a charm?

And given his turbulent 2011, it's no wonder that the Playboy magnate (currently dating Shera Berchard and Anna Berglund) says he won't be walking down the aisle any time soon.

"This year has been a very interesting year for me, I almost got married," he told People. "And as Holly (Madison) - a dear friend and former girlfriend - said, 'Well, you missed a bullet.'

"I think that's accurate. I am clearly not meant to be married. Married life isn't for me."

Hefner has been married twice, to Mildred Williams and Kimberley Conrad.

I don't believe that I'm the only person to believe that a 64 year age difference is just a bit odd. After all, it's not impossible for an 85 YO person to have grand children older than his wife. Would the term gold-digger have something to do with this arrangement?

Just keep popping the viagra Hugh, I'm investing in it when Im 85, just another 40 years to go. Men usually die much younger than women, so stay single and keep it up.

What a wonderful man, my hero. Hes amazing. Brought so much to the world. More than most people. What man wouldn't want to be him? What man? And almost all the women love him to bits still and they just keep coming. Wink! :-) Rock on! :-)
