Resurgent New Zealand First leader Winston Peters has railed against what he called New Zealand's road to separate development for Maori and non-Maori.

In an address to the Ellerslie Rotary Club in Auckland this morning, he also delivered a broadside to the media that he accused of shutting out New Zealand First from the election coverage.

He said the party had been banned from leaders' debates on TVNZ and Radio NZ, and ignored by the Herald, Dominion Post and Christchurch Press.

Has NZ First been sidelined by the media?

I believe Winston has been short-changed by the media in this election. They have not given him the fair coverage and time to debate his policies on radio and television. In my opinion this is not healthy for democracy or fair on his supporters.

I criticize the media and political leaders for snubbing the one man who could do an awful lot of good for this country in the long term if only he could be given a proper chance.

Winston Peters "resurgent"? You've got to be joking. Isn't there an entire dictionary full of words for this anti-immigrant has-been, without using such an inaccurate description as "resurgent"?

Absolutely the media are quietly sidelining them. This is sad as their overall policy mix has merit. However they also need to bring something new to the table, not the old faithfull about Maori Separatism. This simply isnt a current priority.
