Is finding a partner harder for over 40s?

8:24 AM Wednesday Jun 1, 2011

Single men in their 40s are in such demand that they suffer from a "hotness delusion syndrome", a demographer claims.

Their rarity compared to women of the same age means they still receive lots of attention - leading to a delusion about their sex appeal, KPMG demographer Bernard Salt said.

He said at age 44, there were 15 per cent fewer available males than females in Australia.

This topic certainly shows feminist sexism, women talking about a 'good catch' even after they have trashed the family unit they set up with their previous man who turned out to be imperfect. The sexiest thing about a man continues to be his bank balance.

Women in 40's are usually single because no guy is able to stand them.

So if they haven't been able to find someone who can stand them for all this time, it is even less likely to find someone who can when you're so old and can't have babies.

Well said Womblefish. This is also why women are so keen to turn men into early relationship prisoners before their own sell by date passes. And they wonder why we are committment phobic.

A younger man who is ensnared into marriage in his 30s only has financial insecurity and a depreciating asset in the shape of a wife. A single financially secure 40+ male would be insane to hand this power back to anyone.

So the only power the older women has is to to take cheap snipes like in this article? We're not all bald and paunchy - like the guy in the Ad, I'm 41 and I'm in the best shape of my life!

Older guys more typically let themselves go when they are in a marriage, after they've had the life sucked out of them, so it isn't the single ones you should be making fun of. They say married men live longer - it only feels like they do!
