Is NZ really the world's most peaceful country?

New Zealand is listed as the world's most peaceful country in the 2010 Global Peace Index.

The global financial crisis had made the world less peaceful by fuelling crime and civil unrest, the worldwide study said yesterday, but the risk of outright armed conflict appeared to be falling.

New Zealand was said to be the most peaceful country, followed by Iceland and Japan.

In many ways yes, but with the lack of discipline for the younger generation in schools how long will it last.

In some schools it costs thousands every year for legal fees to deal with badly behaved children and their parents who support their behavior in schools against the staff.

The money spent defending staff against aggresive parents could be spent on sprinklers. Gangs are a problem also.

On the whole though we dont have the problems other countries have,we are very lucky.

No we are a very violent country with random violence in most cities. I have lived in several countries and felt safer walking around in every other country except NZ.

It's peaceful as long as you are 'NOT' the partner of a rugby player, an Asian owner of a "dairy", a backpacker or camper van tourist, a young child in a dysfunctional family, wearing the wrong coloured clothes, a prime minister on Waitangi Day or an elderly veteran prone to visiting your local RSA.
