A Christchurch dairy has been targeted by armed robbers for the third time in two months - but it appears all the robber got this time was a bag of chips.
Police are investigating the robbery of the Woolston Discounter Dairy on Ferry St at 8.48pm yesterday.
The same dairy was robbed twice last month. The store manager told Fairfax it was the ninth time the store had been robbed in seven months.
CCTV footage of the latest robbery shows a person holding what appears to be a firearm.
The offender, with face covered, is seen taking items and then fleeing from the store.
The footage appears to show that the robber only managed to keep hold of a packet of chips as they fled the store but police said they were still working to compile a list of what was taken using the CCTV footage.
The robber was last seen running southeast along Ferry Rd.
A scene examination has been conducted, inquiries are being made, and CCTV footage is being examined, Detective Craig Lattimore said.
Anyone with any information about the robbery or suspicious activity around the dairy is asked to contact Detective Craig Lattimore on 03 363 7400.
