Two people were taken to hospital after a tree fell onto a car in Morere this afternoon.
A Fire Service shift manager confirmed emergency services were on the scene at SH2, about an hour away from Gisborne.
A police spokeswoman said there were reports the tree fell across the bonnet of the car, and the two occupants suffered moderate to minor injuries.
The Fire Service received a call to the scene about 4.40pm.
The incident happened near the Blackberry Hill Farm.
Two people have been taken to Wairoa Hospital and the road is expected to be cleared soon.
