Two men have been arrested over a tomahawk attack in Stoke yesterday.
A member of the public reported seeing a man with a small axe on the town's Railway Reserve yesterday.
As police were responding to that call, a call came form the hospital to say they were treating a man who said he had been assaulted and made reference to a tomahawk.
The victim suffered bruises and grazes to his face and head.
The Railway Reserve suspect was arrested and a tomahawk was found, police said.
Inquiries established the two events were linked and a second man involved in the assault at a property in Karaka Street, Stoke was located at a Tahunanui address this morning.
Two Nelson men, aged 21 and 27, have been charged with injuring with intent to injure.
They will appear in the Nelson District Court today.
Police say other charges are likely.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old Nelson woman was this morning arrested and charged with assault and burglary after an incident at a Golf Rd address yesterday afternoon.
The woman allegedly entered the address and assaulted the female occupant.
She will appear at Nelson District Court next week.
