English striker Stan Collymore is quitting soccer just five weeks after joining Spanish side Real Oviedo.
"Stan Collymore has decided, after discussions with his family and close friends, to give up playing professional football," spokesman Ian Monk said. "He has just turned 30 and believes that the time is right to explore other career opportunities which are available to him."
Monk said Collymore wanted to spend more time with his son Thomas and fiance Estelle.
There was no immediate comment from Oviedo officials
