A Ministry of Health investigation into One4b, the dietary supplement linked to the hospitalisation of four people in Auckland last month, may take as long as six weeks.
One4b is not illegal but offers users the same effects as the banned drug Fantasy, or GHB.
It was being sold around Auckland and through the internet as a dietary supplement until two weeks ago when the health ministry recommended it be pulled from the market.
That followed calls from two Auckland doctors to ban the substance "before it kills someone".
Today health ministry spokeswoman Selena Gentry said there was no specific time set for the investigation into One4b and if it fit dietary supplement criteria, but it may take as long as six weeks.
