Green MP Keith Locke has given Sports Minister Trevor Mallard a pair of earmuffs and a blindfold.
The gifts are to help Mr Mallard avoid watching the Fiji sevens rugby team play in Wellington.
Mr Mallard is going to the weekend tournament but says he will not watch Fiji games - a decision that protest organisers believe makes a farce of the Government's stance against Fiji's undemocratic regime.
Mr Locke, who plans to join the protest outside the stadium tomorrow, said yesterday that he had given Mr Mallard a recycled blindfold and earmuffs so he would not be forced to leave his seat during the games.
"I'm glad a new use has been found for the earmuffs, which I used in the meatworks, and the blindfold, which was a sleep aid on an international flight."
He also had a T-shirt printed specially for Mr Mallard, reading "Boycott Fiji Sport."
"I live in hope that Trevor sees how wrong it was for the Government to allow the sevens, Fiji's premier sports team, into the country."
Auckland-based group Coalition for Democracy in Fiji is behind the planned protest at WestpacTrust Stadium.
Meanwhile, the commander of the Fijian military forces, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, is in Wellington for medical treatment.
Foreign Affairs Minister Phil Goff, who will meet the military chief, said the Government was not paying any of his expenses.
