Love-split star Nicole Kidman could be making a return to the British stage, two years after the saucy role which made her the hottest ticket in town.
Kidman, whose husband, Tom Cruise, has filed for divorce, is in talks to star at the Royal National Theatre in Henrik Ibsen's The Lady From the Sea. She caused a storm when she stripped off in The Blue Room at London's Donmar Warehouse in 1999, with tickets changing hands for hundreds of dollars.
The director of the National, Sir Trevor Nunn, is keen to bring her talents to the Ibsen play. A spokeswoman for the theatre said the deal was by no means done and dusted, pointing out that talks took place before the couple's separation was announced.
* Rowan Atkinson is to be filmed for a new series of the comedy Mr Bean - but will not actually appear on screen.
Mr Bean, which was made into a movie in 1997, is to make a TV comeback in the form of a cartoon. Animators will film Atkinson in the guise of Bean so they can faithfully re-create his unique manic movements for the cartoon character.
The 52-part animated series will be produced in London and Budapest over the next two years. Each 11-minute episode will consist of more than 400,000 separate drawings, which will take a year to produce.
* A woman has accused Miami Vice and Nash Bridges star Don Johnson of making lewd comments when the two crossed paths in a sushi bar.
The woman, whom authorities did not identify, told police Johnson grabbed her and made sexually explicit comments when she went to the restroom in a restaurant.
Ronald Litz, Johnson's attorney, said the propositions likely came from the woman. "What I know about the evening is that probably 25 women came up to Don, and that happens wherever he goes," Litz said. "He can't accommodate everybody."
