Northeast New South Wales was declared a disaster area yesterday after violent storms left a trail of destruction along the coast.
At least 27 people were injured, including an elderly Casino woman who had an artery cut by a glass shard and a man from the coastal village of Iluka who broke a leg.
Casino residents woke to scenes of devastation yesterday after 100 km/h winds and hailstones the size of baseballs wrought havoc in the town of 12,000 people.
