The AA is recommending people keep an eye out for future offers from petrol companies and take advantage of any one-off low prices.
Shell, BP, Caltex and Mobil dropped prices by ten cents a litre for one day yesterday as an early Christmas present for customers wanting to fill their cars before heading off on holiday.
But all four oil companies have now lifted the price back to around $1.05 per litre.
Automobile Association spokesman George Fairbairn fuel companies in Australia often make sudden short term price reductions.
He says while yesterday's price cut here was an unprecedented move, if the petrol companies can do it once, they can do it again.
