Ain't love just grand?
Not in Hollywood it seems, with Meg Ryan's dumping of Kiwi actor Russell Crowe followed by news that lesbian couple Ellen De-Generes and Ann Heche have split.
Ryan has returned to her actor/husband Dennis Quaid following a three-month fling with Crowe, the star of box-office smash Gladiator, says Britain's Express newspaper.
The 38-year-old actress, who starred in Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally, has described her affair with New Zealand-born Crowe as a "dreadful mistake" and a "crazy mid-life crisis."
The affair took off in London when they were filming Proof of Life.
Insiders said the relationship was doomed from the start, when Crowe was caught with his hand up a female BBC researcher's blouse just days after Ryan walked out on her husband.
Quaid, 46, has dropped the divorce action he filed last month after Ryan begged his forgiveness.
"Meg wants Dennis to forgive her and for them to put their lives back together again."
Meanwhile, actors DeGeneres and Heche have issued a statement saying: "Unfortunately, we have decided to end our relationship. It is an amicable parting, and we greatly value the 3 1/2 years we have spent together."
DeGeneres, 43, was the first openly gay star on American television. A year after declaring her homosexuality in a Time magazine cover story in 1997, her Ellen series was cancelled.
Heche, 31, and DeGeneres collaborated on the movie If These Walls Could Talk II in April.
Heche directed DeGeneres and Sharon Stone in the story of a lesbian couple trying to have a baby - a tale said to mirror the plans of Heche and DeGeneres.
