Oil company BP has matched Shell and cut the price of petrol by five cents per litre, effective immediately.
Earlier Shell had announced it was cutting petrol by five cents per litre from midday today.
The move lowers prices at main city stations to 111.9c a litre for unleaded 91 and 116.9c for premium unleaded.
The price cuts do not apply to diesel.
