We've come to expect the unexpected from Beyonce these days, but the reigning queen of pop still managed to surprise fans with an electrifying performance of Freedom at the BET Awards today.
Joined by Kendrick Lamar, the pair opened the show with a bang, accompanied by an army of back up dancers, splashing their way through a giant pool of water on stage.
Neither artists had been announced to perform, delighting the audience with their surprise appearance.
Hosted by Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, the awards are designed to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.
