She wrote: "I wasn't sure how to contact you, so I went for the old Facebook wall".
She told him the song "does something very simple and intense to my brain" and said he managed to capture the moment just as "messy and emotional and twitchy and kind of in love and definitely freaked out as that situation feels".
She ended by saying, "please keep making lovely things - I'll listen".
Ng responded: "Thank you for making me smile today; if you want to hear more things just let me know, hopefully I can return the favour".
Ng has around 75,000 Facebook followers, while Lorde has 6.6 million, and 4.3 million on Twitter - and some of them are starting to take notice of her new favourite song.
Sex is a single from Ng's upcoming EP I Think You Think Too Much of Me, due to release on August 19.
