Echo festival may have been axed but some good news appears to be coming from the demise of the failed festival.
It's been confirmed one of the event's headliners, UK dance-pop duo Disclosure is coming to Auckland for a show next month.
The outfit of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence will appear at the Logan Campbell Centre on January 8 playing a DJ set.
That's just a few days before Echo Festival was due to be held at Vector Arena.
Unfortunately, the festival - which began life as a three-day event at McLaren Falls in the Bay of Plenty -was pulled after the promoter cited a lack of interest in tickets.
It's good news for fans of Disclosure, who may have received mixed reviews for their second album Caracal this year but kept their profile up thanks to singles with big name guests: Lorde on Magnets, and Sam Smith on Omen.
The band has been nominated for Best Dance/Electronic album for the 2016 Grammy Awards to be held in February.
Tickets go on sale on Monday December 14 at 9am via www.iticket.co.nz
Other Echo Festival acts still making the trip include grunge slacker Kurt Vile, who released his sixth album in September to rave reviews. He'll perform at Auckland's St James on January 12.
That will kick off a New Zealand tour that also takes in Wellington, Dunedin and Queenstown.
And newly Grammy-nominated Courtney Barnett is now playing at Laneway Festival.
