He's a constant tabloid figure, with recent headlines ranging from stalkers in his house to court-ordered drug tests and stranded flights in the Philippines.
So Chris Brown's world tour, which lands in New Zealand in December, has been aptly titled. It's called: One Hell of a Night.
Brown, the R&B bad boy who has continued making hit records despite trouble in the courts, will perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on December 18 on the back of his latest album, X.
He was last here in 2008 for two sold-out shows with his then-girlfriend Rihanna - a relationship that ended when Brown viciously attacked her in a car in February, 2009.
His plea deal - community labour, five years on probation and domestic violence counselling - caused an outcry.
More recently, he evicted a stalker from his Los Angeles home in May, his tour was grounded in the Philippines over a contract dispute in June, and just this week he was ordered to submit hair and urine samples for drug-testing as part of an ongoing custody battle for his daughter with his ex-lover Nia Guzman.
Tickets for Brown's New Zealand show are on sale from September 28.
