'Idol' final awaits

The mother of the Kiwi competing in tonight's final of Australian Idol says her son is "excited, but pretty stressed and nervous".

Stan Walker, a 19-year-old from Tauranga, is the bookies' hot favourite to beat Aussie Hayley Warner.

His mother April has spoken to her son from her Coolangatta home every day in the lead-up.

She, Stan's dad Ross and his four brothers and sisters will all be at tonight's showdown.

"We're all on a high," said April.

The winner will receive a recording and management contract, a car and a $200,000 artist development fund.

The final screens at 8.30pm on TV2 on Friday.
