And the summer of music keeps heating up with Rhythm and Vines, the New Year's Eve party in Gisborne, announcing New York knob twiddler and musician Moby will headline one of the nights of the three-day festival. Joining Moby, and acts already announced like LCD Soundsystem and Empire of theSun, are post-punk revivalists The Editors, bent-and-twisted British trio Future of the Left, and more local acts including the Open Souls, An Emerald City, and Dictaphone Blues.
And down south in Christchurch for Southern Amp, on November 12 at Westpac Arena, original British punks the Buzzcocks return to New Zealand to headline the show, along with local acts Salmonella Dub, Kora, The Veils, and more.
Also in November The Original Wailers, led by Junior Marvin and Al Anderson who toured and recorded with Bob Marley until his death in 1981, will play five shows in New Zealand including the Powerstation on November 21. They will be playing the entire 1977 album Exodus, which included the songs Three Little Birds and One Love.
Finally, New York-based folky-experimentalists Akron/Family play the Kings Arms on December 15, and Bar Bodega in Wellington on December 16.
