The Silo Cinema Season is back for another year and it's bringing a collection of the year's biggest films as well as some old favourites.
The much-loved screenings are a highlight of every Auckland summer and will return to Silo 7 every Friday from the end of December through to March.
And it's not just the films either; there's also the Food Space food trucks and night markets so you can either pack a picnic or treat yourself when you get there.
The first film will be a people's choice Christmas film; either Love Actually, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street or Scrooged. The winner will screen on December 22 as part of Silo Park's end-of-year celebrations, which take place that Thursday to Sunday.
From there, the cinema will screen a new film each Friday with titles including Oscar winner La La Land, nominees Lion and I Am Not Your Negro, and blockbusters Dunkirk and Wonder Woman.
Kiwi documentary Spookers will also play, along with comedy The Trip to Spain and film favourite The Labyrinth.
The Silo Cinema takes a break in March while the Auckland Arts Festival takes place, but returns on March 30 through to the end of April with films like The Lion King, O Brother Where Art Thou, Guardians of the Galaxy and Taika Waititi's hit hero flick Thor: Ragnarok.
There's also a people's choice screening to round off the season on April 27, and a special Valentine's Day screening of The Princess Bride.
The Silo Cinema is a free event which takes place as part of Summer at Silo Park, which also includes markets, a street drum festival, a dog day and more. See silopark.co.nz for details.
