The trailer for Disney's live-action Pete's Dragon has arrived, and it's full of beautiful New Zealand scenery - oh, and a dragon.
The film is a reimagining of Disney's animated family film of the same name, in which an orphaned boy called Pete goes on an adventure with his pal Elliott.
Minor detail: Elliott happens to be a dragon.
Which, in a world where television is dominated by a woman and her three pet dragons, is probably well timed.
Unlike Game of Thrones' dragons, Pete's dragon is fluffy and a bit more kid-friendly, landing somewhere between the dragon from Eragon and the dragon from The Never Ending Story.
The film stars Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Robert Redford, and New Zealand's own Karl Urban.
And New Zealand scenery stars as Millhaven, a logging town in the American Pacific Northwest.
In the trailer, we see Rotorua's Redwoods Forest become the forest in which Pete and Elliott have their adventures, Otago town Tapanui becomes the main street of the film's town, and we see Wellington, where Pete's Dragon came to life.
Production for the film began at Stone Street Studios in Wellington's film hub, Miramar, while next door at Weta Digital, they were were working on the visual effects for Elliott .
Pete's Dragon is due to open in New Zealand cinemas on September 15.
