Intrigue around the future of Kiwi Supercars driver Fabian Coulthard continues after the championship leader added to speculation around his future with a television appearance this week.
The Shell V-Power Ford driver appeared on the Inside Supercars show and was asked about his contract situation - he is reportedly off-contract at the end of the season.
His response offered more questions than answers.
"The team don't let me disclose what's happening and things like that," he told the show.
"For me, the way we're going, why would you want go anywhere else? It's pretty straight forward."
Coulthard joined the Queensland-based outfit last year but has become a title favourite with the improved performance of the entire operation this season.
He holds a narrow lead over defending series champion Shane van Gisbergen but has demonstrated a speed at every track that the chasing bunch has struggled to match.
"For us, it's more about the consistency," Coulthard explained.
"We've been to many tracks now and been fortunate enough to have the car in the window and be able to work with it.
"We showed glimpses of success at certain tracks last year, predominately on the hard tyre, but we've been to five or six now and been there or thereabouts.
"That in itself is comforting, we go to a track now having the idea we're going to be competitive - not knowing if we are or not. That's good for a driver and their own confidence."
The next round is at rural Victoria track Winton next weekend.
