Motorcyclists with silly grins. The image Graeme Staples paints of this year's Cold Kiwi tells the success of the reborn event.
The 39th running of the Cold Kiwi motorcycle rally was held in its new location at Horopito over the weekend and its spokesman Mr Staples said the event was "absolutely awesome".
"We had about 800 motorcyclists here - the new site worked well.
"There were people just sitting around with silly grins on their faces. It's really revitalised the Cold Kiwi."
Next year the club will celebrate the 40th running of the event, which brings together motorcyclists to the rural location.
They camp overnight and take part in motorcycle activities and enjoy food and music throughout the night.
It was a return for the annual event which didn't run last year after lease troubles at its old Tangiwai site forced a last-minute cancellation. Mr Staples said the new venue would be used again.
Wanganui man Tony Coley went for the first time and said he'd be returning next year for the 40th.
"I just went up for a ride. My bike was too good to do that sort of thing," he said, referring to the off-road events.
"It's something I've always wanted to go to," he said.
Mr Coley said it was a nice and central location for Wanganui people to get to.
