A person has died after being struck by a car in Masterton, the second pedestrian to die on New Zealand roads in just 12 hours.
The latest person to die was hit by a car in Masterton's Chapel St about 4.15pm yesterday. He died of his injuries overnight.
In another fatal crash involving a pedestrian, a man died after being struck on a major road in Mangere, South Auckland, during rush hour yesterday.
He was struck about 6pm, between Bader Dr and Comet Cres.

Police are investigating the deaths.
Masterton police said they were still trying to contact the pedestrian's next of kin.
