Two men were rescued after abandoning their burning boat this evening.
The boaties contacted Coastguard about 7.15pm saying their 17m vessel had caught fire and was engulfed in flames.
The two, who were both wearing life jackets, managed to get into their life raft and await rescue.
Coastguard made a broadcast to vessels in the area and within 10 minutes a nearby boat came and picked them up.
One man had sore eyes from the smoke but they were both allowed to go home after being checked over by paramedics.
The men were well equipped with a a cell phone each and a hand-held VHF radio, Burge said.
It was not known what had become of their boat. Burge imagined it would probably burn to the waterline and sink.
