It was the year that Instagram collided with crazy beauty trends and man, did s**t get real.

It feels like a hot minute ago we were all about "no makeup makeup" and "natural brows" now it's all about doing the weirdest, most irrational things to our faces.

These are the trends we all should definitely leave behind in 2017.

Tattooed freckles

Poor gingers. They've spent decades, centuries even, being teased about their beautiful freckles.

Now in bloody 2017, people are so obsessed with this "natural" look that they're TATTOOING them onto their faces. Horrific.

As a general rule, face tattoos are a poor life choice. Sorry, no offence, but it's true.

Although freckles are super cute and we're all about #naturalbeauty, you're either born with them or you're not. Stay in your lane.

Nose hair extensions

It's literally stuffing a fake eyelash up your nose, which is very unsafe and very uncomfortable.

Plus, it just kind of looks like you've got an insect stuck up there. Not chic.

Squiggle brows

This is worse than that time someone tried to tell me that "thin eyebrows were back".

I swear on all that is holy - aka Cara Delevingne's gorgeous thick brows - that this is BS.

Condoms as beauty blenders

GIRL. Buy a proper beauty blender. Please. Stop doing this.

Leech facials

Miranda Kerr raved about her leech facial at the Goop summit this year, though Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly said she would never do it. So we guess she does have some limits.

Kerr said she kept the leeches used in her leech facial.

"I kept the leeches, they're in my koi pond," she said. "You're not allowed to reuse them and if you don't take them home [the therapist] kills them and I didn't like that idea."

Gwyneth reportedly responded saying "Wow, I thought I was batshit crazy!"

Hairy nail art

And you thought sitting through your fortnightly gel mani appointment was time-consuming.
