An Irish judge has dismissed a man from jury duty after he said he couldn't attend because he needed to spend time with his first love.
The 54-year-old man reportedly told the judge he needed to be relieved from his duties as he had planned a long weekend away and it was his "first time in love".
A Dublin court reporter revealed the exchange on social media and her tweet has gone viral with people praising the judge's decision.
"Man: I can't serve; I'm away for the weekend.
"Judge: We don't sit at weekends.
"Man: I'm away till Monday. I'm 54, a bachelor & it's my 1st time in love.
"Judge: Then you GO and you GO with my blessing."
The exchange took place at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin and social media users are calling it a "real Love Actually" moment.
The reporter, Sarah-Jane Murphy, added that she had to force herself "not to stand up and applaud".
The man reportedly started off hesitantly but gained confidence in his voice as he explained his reason.
"The judge broke into a broad smile and the man walked away grinning," the journalist told the Independent in Ireland. "The woman beside me turned to me and said, 'Did I imagine that?'"
