A white glamour model and former air hostess from Germany who spent $93,000 on surgery has caused outrage after appearing on TV to tell the world she "identifies as a black woman".
Martina Big appeared on The Maury Show to make the admission, wearing a necklace that read "black girls rock".
With the use of three melanin boosting injections and body modification including enlarging her breasts to size 32S, Big managed to change the complexion of her skin to a much darker shade and says she now considers herself to be a black woman.
"Do you think you're a black person?" TV host Maury asks during the show.
"Yeah," Big replied confidently, much to audience members' frustration, before adding: "Well, 80 per cent. I have a lot to learn."
Maury told Big: "You know, Martina, everybody who's watching this, who's a person of colour are [sic] going to say, 'It's not just skin deep.'"
He asked if she wanted to learn about black culture, to which she replied: "I know. I feel a lot of this stuff."
She went on to say: "I am black. That is my race. I can't wait to go to Africa because I hear the food is tasty.
"It's better to be black, the feeling inside is just better."
Asked if she thinks she's offending people who are born black, she said: "No, I don't want to. I know some feel attacked but it's not my intention. I do it for myself and only talk to people who want to talk with me about this."
Big's husband supported her from the audience and admitted he also wanted to change his skin colour but had so far only managed to make himself appear more tanned.
