A Texas father sat in on his son's physics class on Friday after receiving a series of messages from the 17-year-old's teacher about his bad behaviour.

Brad Howard's parents got a number of reports from his physics teacher that he was misbehaving in his early morning class.

Finally, his dad told Brad that if he got another call about him acting up, that he would be making a special visit to sit next to him during school.

Speaking to Buzzfeed News, Brad said: 'I like to talk a lot, and so my teacher kept emailing my dad about it."

His dad explained that his son "likes to be the life of the party, which gets him in trouble from time to time."

"For some reason I said, 'hey, if we get another call I'm going to show up in school and sit beside you in class,'" he said.

Unfortunately for the 17-year-old, that call did come.

"Friday is my only day off," his dad explained. So when his wife woke him up and told him it was time to accompany his son to school, he thought: "Oh no, what have I done?"

Despite his father's warnings, Brad didn't expect to see him waiting by his desk.

"I didn't even notice him until after I had said hi to all of my friends, but I was super shocked," he said after walking in to find his dad waiting for him.

The father explained that he was a bit nervous being around so many teenagers, saying: "Mentally I hadn't prepared to go into a situation like that."

His son's friends, however, seemed to love having his dad around. The father explained that he thinks that they liked watching their friend "put in an uncomfortable situation".

The high-schooler's sister later posted evidence of the visit from the family's group chat on Twitter, writing: "My dad told my brother if he got another call from the physics teacher complaining he would go sit in his class.. dad got another call."

She attached the text message from her mom that read: "Dad told B2 if we get another complaint about his behaviour from his Physics teacher that he was going to sit in class with him. We got a call yesterday so here is dad this morning!!!!"

A number of people found the post hilarious, while others shared that they had experienced similar threats from their parents, the Daily Mail reports.

One woman even said that she could relate, because her mum had done the same thing when she was in school.

The father has said that while the physics teacher was grateful for his visit, he would not be babysitting his son like that again in the future.

"I pray it was a one-time thing," he told Buzzfeed news. "I don't think I'd ever do it again."
