Mother's Day sees us celebrating women in general and the beautiful things they bring to the world - and indeed bring into the world! This article in Viva features the women in a family I greatly admire. Renee and Damaris Coulter, their mother Nuku and Renee's daughter Awa - women at all stages of life - give so much in so many ways personally and through their restaurant Coco's Cantina. This is one family who will be making a big fuss and sharing lots of good food on Sunday, as should we all, and this week's recipes will help to do that.

Bake a carrot, orange and pistachio nut layer cake to share over a cup of something warm for morning or afternoon tea. Or open a bottle of something cold and crisp to serve with a round of caramelised onion and goat's cheese tarts. Make a pretty pink raspberry and rose and white chocolate tiramisu for dessert. For dinner, marinated chicken with zucchini and tiny crumbed pork meatballs with beans and tomatoes are Italian and flavour and perfect for enjoying family style. Peter Gordon has two mothers - both of which he is indulging in his Menu For My Mothers.

Our Monday Makeover is the green smoothie. Megan May is blending hers with alkalising greens and "it" ingredient matcha. Last week's Iron Awareness Week has Mikki Williden talking dietary iron and our life coach, Louise Thompson, is helping us go from good to great. Ray McVinnie has been busy devising delicious ways to use his fresh Hawke's Bay walnuts.

But first, because it is not winter yet, we are heading out to the barbecue to cook some quick barbecued lemon chicken for dinner tonight.
