A church in Arkansas, US, sent a letter to one of its members announcing he would be removed from its membership roll because he had decided to "embrace the homosexual lifestyle".
Dylän Settles shared an image of the letter on Facebook that he claims to have received from Woods Chapel General Baptist Church in Brookland, Arkansas.
He wrote: "I just got this letter in the mail from a place I called my home church... u will never see my face in that church again. All because of my sexual life... PLEASE SHARE."
The letter reads:
Settle's post has been shared by over 3,700 people and prompted a number of outraged replies inviting Settles to join other churches as well as commenting on the letter's poor grammar.
Kristin Kranzley Parks wrote: "Not only are they bigots, they don't know how to use commas properly. Dylan, the United Church of Christ, Presbyterian, and many other denominations will welcome you with open arms. Don't give up on church, just give up on THIS church."
Others told Settles to "stay strong" while one woman shared her story about being asked to leave a church because she was divorced.
