When you are next feeling insecure about your own appearance while looking at a beauty advertisement, just picture this.
An incredible new time-lapse video has condensed hours of work by a retouch artist into a short clip, revealing the true extent of airbrushing and its unbelievable effects.
The behind-the-scenes video was put together by Rare Digital Art, a high-end retouching boutique in New York that has edited images for everyone from Vogue to H&M.
The founder and head retoucher of the firm, Elizabeth Moss, said the point of releasing the clips was to show people exactly how deceptive the industry can be.
"These videos are unique because none of the high end retouchers make these type of videos," Moss told Peta Pixel.
"So the quality of the other before and after retouching videos available online are pretty terrible and not at all representative of what is typically done on high fashion editorials and campaigns."
As one YouTube viewer perfectly added: "Don't compare the real you to the photoshopped version of someone else."
But Moss was also sure to point out that, while a lot of her work is eliminating lines and blemishes and adding color - even hairs to hairlines - she also adds flaws sometimes.
"With all the talk about photoshop use or overuse, I thought it would be interesting for people to see how we actually add pores to skin," she said.
Rare Art Digital released three separate videos from three different shoots online.
Each one reduces hours and hours of work on the computer into just 90 seconds.
It is a brave move for Moss to take, for it ones that could cost her some work.
However it also shows how creative and accomplished her firm is, with the differences between the photos incredible.
