Bex Woolfall from LittleCooks filled the Bite kitchen with fun last week making recipes that you can get the kids on to these holidays. As she was piping a sun on to a bowl of solar soup filled with pasta moons and stars (available from Farro Fresh), our photographer Kieran was drawing a face on our fruit hog cover model. Later in the day I found a Milo teddy stuck to the wall . . . let's just say it was that sort of day.
Bex and business partner Suzi believe all Kiwi kids should have the chance to learn to cook and that cooking, combined with the understanding of nutrition they learn along the way will help kids make healthy food choices. LittleCooks will tailor-make a cooking programme to suit your needs. They have after-school programmes and classes throughout the year.
For older cooks, Sachie Nomura is teaching us how to make
in preparation for Japan Day celebrations this Sunday 12 April. If you're in Auckland head down to The Cloud at Queen's Wharf where you will find the Sachie's Kitchen team serving Asahi and street food in their Japanese beer garden.
Aaron Brunet is doing his bit to help fight food waste by using stale bread for his panzanella salad with a lemony twist and Warren is slip-slidering away with an oyster po' boy slider, a chorizo, snapper and sauerkraut slider and an original beef slider. All the sliders were absolutely delicious but the bourbon and hokey pokey thickshake was the winner on the day. This one is definitely not for the kids but it was a fitting way for the crew to end . . . that sort of day.
