The red and white wines that will give you the best bang for your buck have been revealed in the 22nd edition of a Kiwi vino guide.

Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines includes independent notes on over 3000 locally made wines.

WIN! We have two copies of Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines 2014 to give away. Enter below before noon on Thursday, November 21.

This year, the wine connoisseur says the best white wine buy is Main Divide Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2012, from Pegasus Bay. It sells for about $19.95, and Cooper describes this vintage as the best yet.

"A delicious mouthful, it offers wonderful value," he says.

Or, if you'd prefer a good red, Petit Clos by Clos Henri Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012 is Cooper's pick.

"Most four-star pinot noirs sell in the $30 to $40 range. Petit Clos by Clos Henri Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012, by contrast, is an excellent, highly satisfying red, full of personality, which sells for under $25."

This competition is now closed. Thanks for entering.
