Rookie Penrith wing Dallin Watene-Zelezniak's impressive late season form has seen him included among the latest additions to the Kiwis' train-on squad for the upcoming Four Nations tournament.
The 19-year-old is one of four Panthers to join the extended squad, while five Sydney Roosters were also named after both teams were eliminated from the NRL finals race over the weekend.
Watene-Zelezniak, great grandson of former Kiwis captain Steve Watene, announced his arrival in the NRL with a with a two-try debut performance against the Canberra Raiders back in April. He finished the season with seven tries from 10 first-grade appearances.
Born in Ngaruawahia, he moved to Sydney at a young age and represented New South Wales under 18s but last year declared his allegiance to New Zealand by choosing to represent the Junior Kiwis over the Australian Schoolboys.
Watene-Zelezniak joins Penrith teammates Sam McKendry, Lewis Brown and Dean Whare in Kiwis contention.
Roosters Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Sam Moa and Isaac Liu bring the squad to 37, with several more due to line up for South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs in Sunday's NRL grand final.
The Kiwis open their Four Nations campaign against Australia in Brisbane on October 25, followed by tests against Toa Samoa in Whangarei on November 1 and England in Dunedin on November 8. The tournament final is scheduled for Wellington on November 15.
