A photo posted on the popular Humans of New York Facebook page showing a man with his rescue dog has prompted a flood of responses from readers sharing their own dog adoption success stories.
The man told Humans of New York photographer Brandon Stanton his dog "has a lot of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). She was born in a shelter so she spent the first four months of her life in a cage." But, slowly, the dog is recovering. "There are some morning when she even asks to go outside ... It's so great to see her enjoy the outdoors."
The post has received almost 470,000 likes and followers of the page were quick to share their own photos and stories about their adopted dogs.
